Understanding the relationship between periodontal disease and other systemic diseases is an essential aspect of a complete periodontal evaluation. This brochure describes Sjogren's Syndrome and how this disease affects the exocrine glands of the body.
Histology of the
Salivary Glands
During histology class, I created an informational sheet describing the development of the salivary glands. Gaining knowledge of the histology of the different structures related to the head and neck are important in clinical skills, as many abnormalities are related to the development of structures.
RISK ASSESSMENT PROJECT
During my senior year, I provided services with a partner to a patient from the start of their periodontal scaling and root planing appoinment to the end of the periodontal re-evaluation. This was a great experience for me as I was able to help the patient learn more about his health and adjust his home care. I loved being able to be a part of improving his oral health!
PERIODONTAL PROJECT
During my first year in dental hygiene school I provided a comprehensive preventative treatment plan for a patient. The assessment included oral hygiene instruction, CAMBRA, medical history, periodontal assessment, treatment plan, and nutrition analysis.
