On October 9, 2015 West Los Angeles dental hygiene students were honored to meet the California Dental Hyienists' Assosiation President, Lygia Jolley, RDH, BA at a SFVDHS meet and greet social event. Her dedication and inspiration to incoming dental hygiene professionals was delighting to see. Her energy and stories of her as a dental hygiene student gave me confidence that I will succeed in this field.

On July 13, 2015 WLA dental hygiene students and faculty were given an amazing opportunity to meet with Jill Rethman, Ann Battrell, Karen Sealander, Ann Lynch, and Lin Sarfaraz to discuss opportunities for us as future and current dental hygienists. I especially took to Ann Battrell's speech on her past experiences through her dental hygiene career. She emphasized that even in her role as a Chief Executive Officer with ADHA, input from professionals and students are important to shape the work that they do.

I had a great opportunity to present research with two of my classmates at the CDHA table clinic! We presented on Interim Therapeutic Restorations: An Alternative Treatment for Dental Caries. I love having opportunities to reach underserved communities and this new scope of practice for dental hygienists is an exciting new way to reach them!
